Portrait of Isha Sheikh

Counselling rooted in compassion

I'm Isha Sheikh, a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist based in Leicestershire, offering both in-person and online sessions across the UK. I believe that every person carries the capacity for growth and healing — sometimes we just need a safe, non-judgemental space to explore what we're carrying.

I can work with any clients from the age of 16 and above. Being an integrative therapist, I can draw on different models to meet individual needs — including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, life transitions, bereavement, trauma, and relationship challenges — tailoring the work to what fits you best.

"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change." — Carl Rogers

Services

Each person's experience is unique. As an integrative therapist I offer flexible ways to work together, tailored to your needs and circumstances.

Individual therapy

One-to-one sessions in a private, confidential setting. We'll work at your pace to explore what's troubling you and find a path forward.

Online counselling

Secure video sessions from the comfort of your own home. Ideal if you're short on time, prefer privacy, or can't travel to a clinic.

Short-term support

Focused, time-limited work for specific concerns — helpful if you're looking to address a particular issue in 6–12 sessions.

Long-term therapy

Open-ended, in-depth work for those wanting to explore deeper patterns, past experiences, or longstanding emotional difficulties.

Anxiety & depression

Specialist support for anxiety, low mood, and stress — helping you understand your patterns and develop healthier ways to cope.

Bereavement & loss

Compassionate support through grief — whether you've lost a person, a relationship, a job, or any aspect of life that mattered.

Areas I can help with

People come to therapy for all kinds of reasons. These are some of the things we can work through together — this list isn't exhaustive, so please do get in touch if what you're facing isn't here.

My approach

I draw on an integrative, person-centred foundation — adapting my approach to each individual rather than applying a single technique to everyone.

01

Person-centred

You are the expert on your own life. I offer empathy, warmth, and unconditional positive regard as the foundation of our work.

02

Integrative

I draw on a range of evidence-based approaches including psychodynamic thinking, and mindfulness — selecting what fits you best.

03

Culturally aware

I work with sensitivity to cultural identity, background, and lived experience, creating a space where all of you is welcome.

04

Collaborative

Therapy works best when it's a true partnership. We'll regularly check in on how the work feels and adjust as we go.

What to expect

Clear, upfront information so you can decide whether we're the right fit — with no pressure and no surprises.

What happens in the first session?

We start with a free 20-minute introductory call so you can ask questions and get a feel for how we might work together. The first full session is a gentle chance to talk about what's brought you here and what you'd like from therapy — there's no pressure to share more than you're ready to.

How many sessions will I need?

That's completely individual. Some people come for focused, short-term work of 6–12 sessions; others prefer open-ended, longer-term therapy. We'll review together regularly and there's never any obligation to continue.

Is what I say confidential?

Yes. What you share stays private, in line with the BACP Ethical Framework and UK data protection law. There are rare legal and safeguarding limits to confidentiality, which I'll always talk through with you at the start.

Do you work with people aged 16 and 17?

Yes — I work with clients aged 16 and above. For younger clients we'll agree suitable arrangements together, including any consent considerations, before we begin.

Do you offer online and in-person sessions?

Both. In-person sessions are available in Leicestershire, and secure online video sessions are available to clients anywhere in the UK.

Start the conversation

Taking the first step can feel daunting — but it doesn't have to be. I offer a free 20-minute telephone consultation so you can ask questions and get a feel for whether we might be a good fit.

All enquiries are treated with complete confidentiality. I aim to respond within 24–48 hours.
